Egyptian Painted Wooden Statue for Papyrus of the Book of Dead

This is a wooden statue of Osiris, the God of Death. It was used as a container for papyri from the book of the Dead. The restoration hopes to also show the inner cavity of the statue where the Book of the Dead was concealed.

State of Preservation:

The restoration of this object called for a special technique and specific methods of analysis.

  • Fixation of exterior pigments and inlayed decorations
